What Is AdSense?

AdSense is an advertising program created and maintained by Google. For example, I have included two different sized AdSense creatives on this page. Just below the pictures is one and just below the headline is another. If this web page has been correctly optimized, you should see ads related to the content - Google AdSense.

When a visitor clicks on one of the ads, you receive a percentage of the value that the merchant pays Google. The values paid by merchants and the percentage paid to AdSense participants is not revealed by Google.

5 Tips to Maximize Your AdSense Income

While I don't consider myself an AdSense guru, I earn a decent amount with the program and recently made some changes that greatly increased my click-thru rate and doubled my AdSense income.

1. Place creative at the top of your web pages.

2. The sizes that get the most clicks are 728x90 and 336x280.

3. Blend in the ads with rest of your page. If your web page has a white background, your AdSense ads should too.

4. Attract attention with photos. Add photos either to the top of the 728x90 creative or to the side of the 336x280 creative. Visitor's eyes are drawn to the photos and, as a result, more readily see the ads.

5. Test your ads. Use the channel option in your creatives to test which ones are receiving the highest click-thru rates and which ones are generating the most income.
